OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES

Throughout the year, the MAC guides outreach to the community, organizing projects and dispersing funds to numerous organizations. We have history with the projects described below and support a number of other organizations monetarily including the American Red Cross, Feed My Starving Children, Meals on Wheels, Great Harvest Heartland, Resource West, Timber By Youth Camp, and other emergency relief efforts.

Simpson Shelter

Simpson Shelter in south Minneapolis provides meals and a place to sleep for homeless clients. Our church has supported this mission for more than 30 years. Gary Larson and Ross Rogney, with other faithful church volunteers, and the monetary donations of many, cook and serve a hot evening meal at Simpson Shelter each month. Our church is known by the grateful recipients at Simpson for its pot-roast dinners!

Tree House

We serve a nutritious dinner every other month to preteens/teens at the local Minnetonka Tree House. This nationwide organization is aimed at reaching at-risk youth with love, support, and spiritual growth. Every year we also purchase gift cards that are given to the kids at their Christmas party.

There is also an annual Women of Hope Luncheon along with several other events that benefit Tree House.

Contact Tina Rogney for more information.

ICA Food Shelf

Throughout the year CCoE collects groceries and other household items for the ICA Food Shelf (Intercongregation Communities Association). ICA provides a grocery-store setup at its Hopkins location as well as food deliveries, short-term financial assistance for rent, utilities and childcare, and employment assistance.

MITTEN TREE

Each Christmas season we set up a Mitten Tree in the church narthex. Knitters, crocheters, and shoppers cover the tree with warm scarves, hats, gloves and mittens. These items are then given to an organization that distributes them to the homeless.
